Joining SDK as a design engineer in 2004, Carl Boutin took on the role of project manager in 2006 and became vice-president of the company in 2022. He is involved in the management of the company as a director. As SDK’s quality director, he is in charge of continuous improvement and maintenance of the quality system.

He is a skilled communicator, and is appreciated by clients for his availability, sharp mind, and thoroughness, as well as by manufacturers and contractors for his practical common sense.

Carl Boutin has carried out a wide variety of projects, mainly in the industrial, large surface buildings, pharmaceutical, and retail business sectors as well as for cultural, leisure, and sports infrastructures. His previous experience with a large steel manufacturer has equipped him for large complex structural steel projects. He was a long-time contributor to the Montreal Structural Engineers organization, namely as president for 6 years.

Graduating in civil engineering from the University of Sherbrooke in 1994, Carl Boutin then advanced his education in structural dynamics by completing a master’s in applied sciences in 1996, also at the University of Sherbrooke. He is now further developing his skills through various training courses in structural analysis and design in addition to business management.
